Teachers Mutual Bank Limited today announced the appointment of Michael Bencsik as Chief Financial Officer effective from 1 July 2024.
The appointment follows a comprehensive search, which included a strong field of candidates.
Michael brings 25 years’ experience in financial services both domestically and overseas, having held various executive finance and strategy roles at major Australian banks, foreign-owned banks, and ASX listed organisations. Michael is also an experienced not-for-profit director.
Teachers Mutual Bank Limited’s CEO, Anthony Hughes said he was delighted to have Michael join the team and bring his extensive experience into the member-owned bank.

Michael’s previous roles include CFO with Beforepay Group, Genworth Mortgage Insurance, and HSBC Bank Australia, Deputy CFO Bank of Queensland, CFO Global Wholesale Banking & Markets, Global Wealth and International at First Abu Dhabi Bank (UAE). Michael was also Head of Strategy, institutional banking and markets teams at both Commonwealth Bank and HSBC Holdings plc (UK).
Michael holds both a Masters of Business Administration (MACQ) and Bachelor of Commerce (UNSW) degrees. He is Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (UK), Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant (AUS), and Fellow Financial Services Institute Australasia.
